Shipyard Bards, Tall Tales and Whisky, United Kingdom, 2026

Shipyard Bards, Tall Tales and Whisky

Celebrate Glasgow’s shipbuilding legacy through an immersive blend of storytelling, music, and hearty Scottish fayre. This unique event explores the Clyde’s industrial past and present regeneration, weaving together tales of iconic shipyards like John Brown’s, Fairfield, and Yarrows, and legendary vessels such as the Cutty Sark, HMS Hood, and Queen Mary.

Guests will enjoy a two-course meal featuring Scottish favourites - Peterhead haddock and chips, haggis with neeps and tatties (including a veggie option), and steak pie, followed by indulgent desserts like warm apple pie with custard, traditional cranachan, or sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream. A dram of whisky adds a warming touch to the evening.

The performance features stories drawn from Fairfield Heritage Museum and former shipyard workers, ranging from humorous anecdotes to poignant reflections on life along the Clyde. Expect tales of work-ins, boss-versus-worker tensions, and the spirit of the Clydeside community.

Live music comes from Mae MacInnes, a singer from the Isle of Skye steeped in Gaelic tradition. Her songs, inspired by the Clyde and its heritage, are accompanied by evocative images of the river, shipyards, and the vessels that shaped Glasgow’s maritime identity. A heartfelt celebration of history, resilience, and local pride.
