Land Empathy, Silence Between Waves - Richard Chappell Dance and Supporting Acts

Devon based Richard Chappell Dance presents an exciting new mixed bill of both indoor and outdoor dance works. Featuring the companys acclaimed creations Land Empathy and Silence Between Waves , alongside two dynamic new works by Cornwall-based artists Charlotte Eaton and Aisha Naamani.

Inspired by the pressing challenges of the climate crisis, Land Empathy aims to deepen our connection to the natural world around us. Featuring three dancers, original sculptures by visual artist Anna Gillespie, and a pulsating score by electronic music duo Larch, Land Empathy weaves a powerful narrative that helps foster climate consciousness and conveys a passionate message of urgency for the future.

In Silence Between Waves , two dancers perform a flowing and mesmerising duet inspired by Chappells memories of growing up on the South Devon Coast. Set to a soundscape of stories from Torbays coastal communities, this poignant piece reframes the ocean as a symbol of connection rather than separation, linking us to the outside world.

Programmed through Richard Chappell Dances Supporting Acts initiative, this mixed bill also shines a light on some of Cornwalls rising dance artists, with a new outdoor work by Charlotte Eaton, and Aisha Naamanis No Idea What I'm Doing , an ode to the dawning realities of adulthood featuring vigorous floor work to tap dancing with a soundtrack of spoken word, electronic music and a Welsh choral hymn.
